TYPICAL DAY

During a crossing we always use a watch schedule in which everyone on board alternates between being on watch and having rest and sleep. This is because we will be sailing continuously for the whole trip, so also through the night. Most of the time a four hour rhythm will be used. This means that you will help with sailing, navigating, cooking and everything that needs to happen on board for four hours, followed by four hours of rest and sleep.  There are always two people on watch of which at least one experienced sailor, so even with little to no sailing experience you can join a crossing and learn about ocean sailing. As everyone on board lives by a different schedule we have two joint moments per day, breakfast and dinner, where everyone is awake to keep the group spirit alive, check in how everyone is feeling and discuss the sailing plan for the coming hours.
